Let’s do this again, what you ask?
The CRAFTING OLYMPICS!
Twice in a year…cause that’s just the way I roll.
I mean, who doesn’t like the Olympics?
And it’s winter, here in the midwest it’s cold and all COVID riddled so…if I gotta stay in, why not make some crafts and cheer on the US in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games?
Plus, I just really love watching the Olympics. All those elite athletes. It is truly a spectacle.
And it begins in…
But Maria, you are talking about something called the Crafting Olympics…what the f@Kc is that?
Excellent question!
I decided during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to resurrect the amazing Yarn Harlot‘s 2006 Knitting Olympics with modifications. I called it the Crafting Olympics because I decided that knitting is too limited and I wanted to include a wider group of DIYers/crafters.
Here is the 2020 logo…
And here is the 2022 logo!
Basically, all you need to do is come up with a list of crafty projects you want to complete during the 2-weeks of the Olympics. They should be projects you can either do while watching or listening to your favorite Olympic events.
Rules?
Ummm…
No.
Just remember, the Crafting Olympics 2022 is NOT a competition.
It’s just a community of people crafting/sharing during a Worldwide sports competition.
Guidelines…
Just a couple.
Eligibility: Anyone reading this AND willing to participate.
Parameters: Come up with a list of 3-10 items you think you can complete during the 16-days of the Beijing winter games (February 4-20, 2022).
Your project list should check a couple of these boxes:
…something you just want to finish;
…something that is an easy win (an easy to complete project);
…something that you want to try;
…something you might want some community ‘help’ with;
…something that has been a LONG-awaited item you want to do, but just have not started/tackled, etc.
The Crafting Olympics begin during the Beijing Olympics Opening ceremonies. You can choose to begin during the REBROADCAST (in the US time can differ up to like 13 hours, depending on where you are) or the live ceremony.
Rebroadcast (in the US) is on Friday, February 4 @ 8pm EST <—- My start
(although the first broadcast event will be the day before)
I will take a break from the Olympics to watch Superbowl #56 on Sunday, February 13.
How can I resist?
The Crafting Olympics will end during the closing ceremonies.
Rebroadcast will be Sunday, February 20 at 8 pm ET on NBC. <—-My end
Metals?
Sure…it’s a digital metal. I will create something 🙂
Fair warning…I said I would last time and I didn’t 🙁
What else…
Last year I tried to do a Discord group but it seemed that Facebook is more up everyone’s ally! So we will do that again…
What have I forgotten? Let me know in the comments.
P.S. Don’t forget, if you are going to participate, let me know in the comments or even BETTER, by joining the Facebook group and sharing your list.
